Academic, administrative and research departments through delegation of custodial responsibility to their college/division business administrators and one or more Designated Property Custodians, are responsible for the proper maintenance and safekeeping of state and federal property in their possession. Assets should be tracked and secured in the manner most likely to prevent theft, loss, damage or misuse. Precautions must be taken to ensure that assets can be located at all times, onsite or offsite and be able to locate item(s) at any given time upon request and should have some method of inventory tracking.
