I am required to take a developmental course. How is it different from other courses?

A developmental course is a course designed to remediate an area of academic weakness and to prepare the student to take college level work. Developmental courses, include ENGL 1300, MATH 1300, READ 1300, and carry no credit toward any degree.

The grade earned in MATH 1300, ENGL 1300, or READ 1300 will not affect your UH GPA. The developmental courses are graded as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory/In Progress. Each course counts for 3 hours credit toward your enrollment hours in the semester you take it. If you enroll in a developmental course and three college level 3-hour courses, you will be considered a full-time student for purposes of financial aid, insurance, etc.
