How do I set my computer to run automatic software updates?

It is the responsibility of the university community computer users to keep their computers current with Windows updates and patches in order to protect the themselves and the university from invasive viruses and worms. In order to make the process easier, you can set your computer to perform automatic updates.

Auto Update for Windows XP
Go to the Start button. Select Control Panel and open the System icon. Click on the Automatic Updates tab. Choose one of the Settings options. Select Apply and OK. If you choose the automatic download option, be sure to choose a time of day when the computer is most likely to be turned on.
