How do I map a network drive?
First connect to VPN
Map Network for Windows 8, 10, and 11
- In Windows 8 or 10, right-click on the Windows start button in the bottom left corner of the screen and select File Explorer.
- In the window that opens, make sure to select "This PC" (on Windows 10) or "Computer" (on Windows 8) and then click the Map network drive button at the top. For Windows 11, select Show more options and then click the Map network drive button.
- Select an available drive letter from the Drive field.
- Type the path in the Folder field, example\\cougarnet.uh.edu\root\Home8\userid
- Where Home# is where your home drive resides (like Home7 or Home8) and userid is your CougarNet userid.
- If you want the drive connected the next time you log in, ensure the "Reconnect at logon" option is selected.
- Click the "Finish" button.
Disconnect from network drive
- In Windows 8 or 10, right-click on the Windows start button in the bottom left corner of the screen and select File Explorer.
- In the window that opens, make sure to select "This PC" (on Windows 10) or "Computer" (on Windows 8) .
- Right-click on the drive you wish to disconnect from.
- Select Disconnect
To disconnect from a mapped network drive:
- Open "Computer" or "My Computer."
- Right-click on the drive you wish to disconnect from.
- Select "Disconnect."
