What should I do if I can not log in with my CougarNet password?

There are several reasons why your CougarNet account password may not work:


  • Your account may be locked. The CougarNet system will lock your account if you attempt to login with a failed password multiple times. Wait 5 minutes and the account should unlock.
  • Your password expires every 180 days. Use the CougarNet Password Wizard to reset your password. UH has a strong password standard to protect the University's systems, network, and information. For information on creating a strong password, including a list of special characters that you can use, please visit Strong Password Standards
  • Your account may be disabled. If you are a current student, faculty or staff, contact the UIT Support Center to have your account re-enabled again. Please contact us at 713-743-1411 or Chat with us to report the problem.


Note: If you do not remember your CougarNet ID, Use the Password Wizard CougarNet Lookup to search for it.
