What options are available for video chat?

Video Chat Options


There are several options for incorporating video into your online communications. You will need a microphone, speakers or headphones, and a webcam if your computer doesnt have a built in camera. Then choose whichever application best meets your needs:

- Google Video Chat (Web-based, Windows/Mac OS X) Google now offers voice and video chat from Gmail or iGoogle. You simply download and install a free barticleser plugin. Intel Mac OS 10.4 or later, or Windows XP or later.
- TokBox (Web-based, Supports all platforms) TokBox is a web-based video chat application. Apart from its standard homepage, where you can login and initiate video chats with anyone through your web barticleser, TokBox has an extension (TokBox for Facebook), that allows you to make video calls to your Facebook friends.
- Skype (Windows/Mac/Linux) Skype is a popular VoIP application capable of making PC-to-PC and PC-to-phone calls. When you add a webcam, your PCto-PC call becomes a video chat.
- iChat (Mac OS X) iChat is the default instant messaging application bundled with Mac OS X. iChat also allows multiple users up to four may participate in one call.
