Some of my disk drives do not show up in Windows 7. What gives?

This solution is for computer systems with multiple disk drives. Some drives will appear to have vanished or seem undetectable. Follow these steps to solve this problem:

1. From the Start Menu, right-click on "Computer."
2. Left-click on "Manage."
3. A window called "Computer Management" will appear. Click on "Disk Management."
4. The disk drives that are installed on your computer system will appear, including the one you are looking for.
5. Right-click on the missing drive and assign it a drive letter. This will fix your problem.

Make sure that another drive is not using the same "CougarNet Mapped Drive" letter or you will not see your CougarNet shared drive or another shared drive your department may have.
