How can I check to see if Outlook is set to leave messages on the server?

If you are using Outlook 2003 with Exchange, e-mail can be left on the server.

To do this:
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Open the Mail icon.
3. Click on E-mail Accounts.
4. Select View or Change Existing E-mail Accounts and click Next.
5. In the ‘deliver new e-mail to the following location’ field, if “Mailbox - Last name, First” appears, then your mail is left on the server. If anything other than ‘Mailbox - Last name, First” appears, then your e-mail is downloaded to a file (.pst). ( note: Outlook 2000, 2002/XP steps are similar).

For Outlook 2000/2002/with mail.uh.edu mail subsystem:

1. While logged into Outlook, click on Tools, Accounts, and select the Mail tab.
2. Double click on the appropriate tab.
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
4. You may keep a copy on the server by selecting the appropriate check box to set its conditions.
