The convenience fee is a fee assessed to cover the cost of credit card processing. For years the university has absorbed this cost; however, in recent years the cost has risen to over a million dollars per year and the university is no longer able to continue this practice. In order to continue allowing students, parents and alumni the convenience of using their credit card as payment for tuition and fees the university is forced to pass along this cost of doing business.
